Alcazaba quarter
The oldest streets climb around the hill of the Moorish fortress. They form a dense, irregular cluster that reads as the historic heart of the map.

The map
Loja Map Poster & Print
Loja lies in the west of Granada province, where the Genil river runs through a narrow gap between the mountains of the Sierra de Loja and the hills to the south. That gap has made it a crossing point for centuries. On a map, the town gathers on the slope above the river, with the valley floor spreading out below.
The oldest quarter climbs towards the Alcazaba, the Moorish fortress that once guarded the route between Granada and the west. Its streets are short, steep and irregular, the kind of lanes that wrap around a hill instead of crossing it. Lower down, newer streets follow the valley, and the A-92 motorway sweeps past on its way between Granada and Seville.
Just outside town, the river drops through the waterfalls and gorges known as the Infiernos de Loja. A Loja map poster brings the fortress hill, the curve of the Genil and the tight old lanes together in one precise drawing. It suits anyone who knows the long road through Andalusia.

Genil river
The Genil threads through the valley below town. It is a single flowing line that anchors the composition and explains why Loja grew here.
Motorway sweep
The A-92 runs around the town in long, smooth curves. Its engineered geometry contrasts with the medieval tangle of the old quarter.
