Historic core
Narrow, twisting streets and small plazas crowd the old town, a fine, intricate texture that stands out clearly in black and white.

The map
Lucena Map Poster & Print
Lucena lies in the south of the province of Córdoba, in Andalusia, among low hills covered in olive groves. From above, the old centre forms an irregular pattern of narrow streets and small squares, packed closely together. Newer neighbourhoods and industrial areas spread outward in a more open layout.
In the Middle Ages, Lucena was an important Jewish town, sometimes called the "Pearl of Sepharad", and a significant centre of learning in al-Andalus. Near the centre stands the Castillo del Moral, where, according to tradition, Boabdil, the last Nasrid king of Granada, was held captive after being captured in 1483.
Lucena is also known today for its furniture industry, which has shaped much of its modern growth. A Lucena map poster brings together the dense historic core, the outer ring of newer streets and the rural roads that lead into olive-covered hills.

Castillo del Moral
The medieval castle near the centre is linked to the captivity of Boabdil and gives the old town a clear historic anchor.
Olive country
Around the town, rural roads cross gentle hills of olive groves, the characteristic landscape of southern Córdoba province.
