The map
Manhumirim Map Poster & Print
Manhumirim lies in the Zona da Mata of eastern Minas Gerais, a region of steep hills, small rivers and coffee farms not far from the Serra do Caparaó. The town grew along the valley floor. On a map its streets follow the lie of the land, stretching out where the ground is flat and thinning quickly as the slopes rise.
This is the defining feature of a Manhumirim map poster: the terrain shaped the street pattern more than any plan did. Roads curve with the watercourses, and side streets climb a short way up the hillsides before they stop.
