Valley city
Miass stretches along its river and rail line instead of spreading outward. Its districts appear as a chain of built-up areas separated by forest and open land.

The map
Miass Map Poster & Print
Miass follows the Miass River along the eastern slopes of the southern Urals, and its map is unusually elongated, with separate districts strung out for many kilometres along the valley and the railway. Forested ridges rise on both sides, and lakes lie close by. They include Turgoyak to the north-west, known for its exceptionally clear water.
The city began in 1773 as a copper-smelting settlement and became a centre of the Ural gold rush in the nineteenth century. It later grew around the Ural Automobile Plant, which builds heavy trucks, and the Makeyev rocket design bureau. Just north lies the Ilmen Nature Reserve, known among mineralogists for the variety of minerals found there.
A Miass map poster turns this geography into a strong, directional composition: the river threading through, separate neighbourhoods like beads on a string, and the curves of lakes and hills around them. On this map the landscape is as present as the streets, which suits a minimalist black-and-white treatment well.

Lake Turgoyak
Just north-west of the city, the irregular outline of Lake Turgoyak adds a large, clean shape to the map. The lake is known for its depth and the clarity of its water.
Ilmen Mountains
The low ridges of the Ilmen range and the protected reserve to the north appear as quiet, road-free areas that contrast with the dense streets below.

Why Miass
A map that means something
People remember Miass for its lakes, mountains and factories as much as its streets, and a map captures all of them at once. You can set your own title, put a family name or date in the subtitle, and use the coordinates line for the exact spot.
Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Because the city is so elongated, larger formats such as 50×70 cm or 24×36″ show its length well. The $9 download includes all six sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF.
