The map
Ufa Map Poster & Print
Ufa sits where the Belaya and Ufa rivers meet in the southern Urals, and the city stretches along a long, narrow ridge between them. Districts run north and south for many kilometres, and on a map the city looks unusually long, framed by water on both sides.
The historic centre sits on a high bank above the Belaya, where the monument to Salavat Yulaev, the Bashkir national hero, overlooks the river. An Ufa map poster captures the steep slopes and curving riverbanks that give the city its distinctive form.
Founded in 1574, Ufa is the capital of Bashkortostan and one of Russia's major industrial centres, especially for oil refining. Parks and forests line the river slopes, softening the edges of the dense urban core.
