Metropolitan edge
The locality sits where Zapopan's continuous urban fabric starts to fragment, so the map shows dense blocks on one side and a looser pattern of plots and roads on the other.

The map
Nuevo México Map Poster & Print
Nuevo México is a locality in the municipality of Zapopan, on the north-western edge of the Guadalajara metropolitan area in Jalisco. From above, it reads as a place where the city is still being drawn. Tight blocks of houses sit beside unbuilt parcels, and the roads that connect it to the larger urban mass are clearer than any single central square.
On the map, the street pattern is mostly rectilinear but broken into patches, as if each neighbourhood was laid out on its own terms. Short cul-de-sacs meet longer collector roads, and the edges where housing gives way to fields or bare ground stay visible. In black and white, that loose texture feels open and unfinished in a way a dense old centre never does.
A Nuevo México map poster records a common stage of Mexican urban growth: a community on the outer ring of a large metropolis, linked to Guadalajara yet shaped mainly by its own streets. The composition balances filled-in blocks against open space, so the poster reads less like a cityscape and more like a plan still being worked out.

Patchwork grids
Each neighbourhood has its own orientation and block size, and where they meet the joins show clearly as short offsets and angled connecting streets.
Connecting roads
A few longer roads carry traffic toward the rest of the Guadalajara area. They run through the drawing as its strongest lines, holding the separate grids together.

Why Nuevo México
A map that means something
For people who grew up here or moved out to this edge of Guadalajara, the map shows home as it really is: a neighbourhood with its own streets and not just a dot on the outskirts of a big city. It also suits anyone interested in how metropolitan areas grow.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or the year you moved in. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy the digital files, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
