Sabinas River
The river winds past the city in a loose curve. It is the most organic line on the map and a natural border for the urban grid.

The map
Sabinas Map Poster & Print
Sabinas is a city in northern Coahuila and a centre of the state's coal-mining district, often called the Región Carbonífera. It lies on the Sabinas River in open, semi-arid country. On a map the city is a fairly regular grid of blocks on the flat ground near the river, with highways and rail lines running out across the plains.
Coal has shaped the area for more than a century, and mining and related industry make up a large part of the local economy. On a wider map, the settlements of the coal region form a string of towns connected by highways, with Sabinas among the largest. Mine sites and service roads are scattered across the land around them.
A Sabinas map poster is shaped by the river as much as by the streets. The river crosses the frame in a long, irregular curve that softens the straight blocks of the town. For families with roots in the carbonífera, it is a recognisable outline of home.

Highway and rail
Roads and rail lines run straight out across the plains toward the other towns of the coal region, extending the composition to the edges.
