The map
Tala Map Poster & Print
Tala lies in the state of Jalisco, west of Guadalajara, in a valley that has long been devoted to sugar cane. Its large sugar mill is the town's economic landmark and one of the best known in Mexico, and cane fields spread over much of the land around it. On the map, a regular grid of streets sits at the centre of this agricultural landscape.
Between Tala and Guadalajara rises the Bosque La Primavera, a protected forest of pine and oak on volcanic hills that serves as a green lung for the metropolitan area. The contrast between the flat, farmed valley and the wooded heights is one of the defining features of this part of Jalisco.
A Tala map poster shows the orderly blocks of the town, the roads that lead towards Guadalajara and nearby towns, and the open land around them. It is a clear, graphic map of a working town, meaningful to anyone who grew up among the cane fields or travelled west from Guadalajara.
