Araquari lies in northern Santa Catarina, between the city of Joinville and the coastal island of São Francisco do Sul. The land here is low and wet, shaped by rivers draining toward Babitonga Bay, and on a map the town appears scattered rather than dense: a small central area with roads branching out across marsh, fields and patches of Atlantic forest.
The BR-101 federal highway runs through the municipality, and its presence has drawn industry to the area in recent years, most notably a BMW car assembly plant that opened in the 2010s. Araquari also hosts a campus of the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina, which occupies a sizeable rural site outside the centre.
An Araquari map poster captures a landscape still defined more by water than by streets. Rivers wind in loose curves toward the bay, mangrove edges soften the coastline, and roads run on the firmer ground between them. Industrial sites near the highway add a few large, simple shapes that stand out against the fine texture of the surrounding land.
Channels and mangroves along the bay give the eastern side of the map an irregular, watery outline typical of this coastline.
The federal highway crosses the municipality as a long, steady line, with newer industrial sites clustered along its route.
Small rivers meander across the low ground toward the bay, their curves shaping where roads and settlements can be built.

Ko e ha Araquari
Araquari is changing quickly, from a quiet coastal town to an industrial neighbour of Joinville. A map poster records the place at a moment in that transition, and suits both long-time residents and people who have recently moved for work or study.
