Ayyalur is a town in Dindigul district in Tamil Nadu, located on the route between Dindigul and Tiruchirappalli. Both the highway and the railway pass through it, and on the map those two long lines are its backbone. The town grew along them, with a dense core of streets near the road and the station, and smaller lanes branching out to the surrounding houses and fields.
The landscape is dry and open, with rocky hills and outcrops rising here and there across the plain. Tanks and small reservoirs collect monsoon rain for farming, and they show as irregular shapes among the fields. Ayyalur is known in the region for its weekly market, where livestock is traded, which draws buyers from well beyond the town.
An Ayyalur map poster is shaped by movement. Transport lines cross the frame, the town gathers around them, and the countryside stretches out on both sides with its tanks, tracks and hills. It is a clear, uncluttered picture of a small South Indian market town.
The main road and the railway line run through the town side by side. They form the strongest lines on the map and explain where the town grew.
Water tanks collect rain for the surrounding fields. They appear as soft, irregular shapes that stand out against the dry farmland.
Low hills and granite outcrops rise across the plain near the town. They add relief and open space to the edges of the composition.
