Bakhchysaray grows along a valley rather than spreading across a plain. From above, the town looks like a long ribbon that follows the small Churuk-Su river between pale limestone ridges. Houses climb the slopes on either side, and the main road runs almost parallel to the water, so the plan feels drawn by the terrain more than by any planner.
The town was the capital of the Crimean Khanate, and the Khan's Palace still sits near the valley floor, its courtyards and gardens showing as a compact cluster of shapes among the smaller residential blocks. The palace's Fountain of Tears became widely known through Pushkin's poem, and it gives the town a literary reputation that goes well beyond its size.
Further up the gorge, the land becomes steep and the street network thins into paths leading toward cave monasteries and the cliff-top town of Chufut-Kale. A Bakhchysaray map poster captures that transition from dense valley streets to open, folded ground, a pattern that reads as clearly in black and white as it does in the landscape.
The river sets the direction of the whole town. Streets bend with it, and the built-up area stays within the valley, giving the map a long, slightly curving outline.
Near the centre, the former palace complex appears as a group of courtyards and garden plots, set apart from the tighter pattern of the surrounding houses.
East of the town the valley narrows, and roads turn into a few thin lines climbing toward the cave town and monasteries carved into the cliffs.

Ko e ha Bakhchysaray
For people with family roots in Crimea, or who remember walking up the gorge, this map holds a place that is both historic and deeply personal. The narrow valley shape makes a distinctive composition on a wall, unlike the usual grid of a city.
