Bandar-e Anzalī sits on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea in Gilan province, on land that separates the open sea from the Anzali Lagoon. On the map the city looks like a narrow strip of streets between two bodies of water. The long, gently curved coast is on one side. On the other the lagoon spreads inland, with channels and reed beds.
A channel connects the lagoon to the sea and splits the city into two parts, joined by bridges. The port lines this channel. For centuries it was Iran's main gateway for trade and travel across the Caspian, especially with Russia. The older streets cluster close to the water, and newer areas stretch along the coast.
The Anzali Lagoon is a protected wetland, known for its birds and for the lotus flowers that cover parts of it in summer. A Bandar-e Anzalī map poster keeps all three elements in view: the sea, the city on its narrow land and the soft, irregular lagoon behind.

A long, gently curving shoreline forms the northern edge of the map. The sea beyond it fills the frame with open water.
