Beypazarı lies west of Ankara, in hilly country where a small river valley opens up between steep slopes. The historic town climbs one side of the valley. On the map, its narrow, winding streets follow the contours, with short lanes linking the terraces. The more regular modern districts sit on flatter ground, and orchards and gardens fill the valley floor.
The town is known for its well-preserved Ottoman houses, many of them restored, with timber frames and whitewashed walls. It is also known for carrots and dried fruit, for traditional silver work and for the mineral water that carries its name. Its streets draw weekend visitors from Ankara.
