Bhubaneswar is often called the Temple City of India. Hundreds of stone temples built between roughly the seventh and thirteenth centuries survive in and around the Old Town, the finest of them the eleventh-century Lingaraja Temple. Nearby, the large rectangular Bindu Sagar tank is one of the clearest shapes on any map of the old quarter.
After independence Odisha needed a new capital, and in 1948 the German architect Otto Koenigsberger drew up a plan for a city to the north of the temple town. He organised it into neighbourhood units, each with its own school, market and green space, which is why many districts are still known simply as Unit 1, Unit 2 and so on.
To the west, the twin hills of Udayagiri and Khandagiri are cut with Jain rock shelters dating from around the second century BCE. The Kuakhai River runs along the eastern side of the city and the Daya to the south. A Bhubaneswar map poster brings the old and the planned city onto a single sheet, each with a pattern of its own.

The mid-century capital is divided into self-contained neighbourhood units along broad roads. The layout is more open and regular than the old town, and the contrast is easy to see.
Two small wooded hills on the western edge, riddled with ancient rock-cut caves. On the map they appear as rounded green shapes where the street network pauses.

Ko e ha Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar brings together temples more than a thousand years old and a capital planned in living memory, and a map is one of the few ways to see both at once. It suits anyone with family roots in Odisha or years spent studying in the city.
Personalise the poster with your own title, a subtitle such as a neighbourhood unit or a date, and a custom coordinates line. Choose from five styles, with Paper and Sand giving a warm tone to the temple quarter. Printed versions come on matte paper, framed or unframed.
