Ko e mape
Bodītī is a market town in the Wolaita area of southern Ethiopia, set on green highland ground west of the Rift Valley lakes. On the map it appears as a compact centre along the main road, with a looser fringe of houses spreading outward into the countryside. Beyond it, the land is divided into countless small holdings, each marked by a path or boundary, creating an intricate, finely grained pattern.
Wolaita is one of Ethiopia's most densely settled rural areas, and that density shows clearly from above. Homesteads are typically surrounded by gardens of enset, the false banana plant that is a staple food across much of the south, and the resulting mosaic of plots, hedges and tracks reads as a patient, hand-drawn texture in monochrome.
The town serves as a local hub for trade, schooling and services for the surrounding farming communities, with roads leading toward larger centres such as Wolaita Sodo. A Bodītī map poster shows the place honestly, a highland market town whose shape comes from the farmland around it as much as from its own streets.
The town grows along its main road, a clear line through the centre from which smaller streets and tracks branch into the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Around the town, a great many small farm plots and footpaths create a fine, irregular pattern that fills the outer parts of the poster with texture.
Rolling highland ground shapes the paths and field edges, which bend gently with the slopes rather than following any regular grid.

Ko e ha Bodītī
People from Wolaita living in Addis Ababa or abroad often keep close ties to their home towns, and a map of Bodītī is a simple, lasting way to honour that. Its dense rural texture also makes it an unusual and handsome piece for any wall.
