Danshui lies in the Huiyang district of Huizhou in Guangdong province, a short distance from the eastern edge of Shenzhen. From above, the area shows the pattern of the Pearl River Delta's growth: a dense core of streets and blocks, large new residential complexes, and wide roads, all fitted into lower ground between green hills. Industrial zones and new developments extend along the main transport routes.
The area has grown rapidly over recent decades as manufacturing and housing spread outward from Shenzhen. Many residents came from other parts of China for work, and the town has changed from a smaller settlement into a large urban area. The surrounding hills remain largely forested, giving the district a clear natural frame.
A Danshui map poster shows the contrast between the dense built-up area and the empty hills around it. Wide roads divide the town into large blocks, and the finer streets of the older centre appear among them. In clean black line work, it becomes a sharp portrait of a rapidly grown town.
The central area forms a tight grid of streets and blocks that appears as the most detailed part of the poster, framed by wider main roads.
Forested hills surround much of the built-up area, leaving broad empty spaces on the map that make the outline of the town clear and distinctive.
Large residential complexes and industrial zones extend along the main roads, appearing as bigger, simpler shapes that show how the town has grown outward.
