Ko e mape
Dillingen lies in the Saarlouis district of Saarland, on the eastern bank of the Saar just where the smaller Prims river flows in. The town occupies a flat stretch of the valley, with wooded higher ground to the east and the river curving along the west. Two very different textures dominate the map: residential streets and, beside them, the large rectangular grounds of the steelworks.
Iron and steel have defined Dillingen since the Dillinger Hütte was founded in 1685. The works still cover a large share of the town, with rail sidings, halls and yards laid out in long parallel lines. The large neo-Romanesque Church of the Holy Sacrament, known locally as the Saardom, rises in the centre and gives the town a recognisable skyline.
A Dillingen map poster brings the industrial side to the fore in an almost graphic way. The precise geometry of the works sits against the looser streets, and both are framed by two rivers meeting. It suits people whose families worked at the Hütte, residents proud of their town, and anyone drawn to the look of industrial landscapes.
The Saar runs along the western side of town, and the Prims joins it here. On the print, two curving river lines meet and frame the built-up area.
The Dillinger Hütte covers a large rectangular area of halls, yards and rail tracks. This dense geometric block contrasts sharply with the residential streets around it.
The older centre gathers around the Saardom church. Its streets follow a fairly regular pattern that grew alongside the town's industrial expansion.

Ko e ha Dillingen
In Saarland, where many families have worked in steel for generations, a map of Dillingen carries real meaning. It shows home and workplace side by side, and the contrast of rivers, streets and industrial geometry makes a strong, confident poster.
