Dorohoi lies in the far north of Romania, in Botoșani County, not far from the borders with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. The town sits in the valley of the Jijia River, among the rolling hills of the Moldavian Plateau. From above, a compact centre of short streets and small squares gives way to housing that spreads along the valley and the roads toward the surrounding villages.
Dorohoi is one of the older towns of Moldavia and appears in medieval documents as a market and administrative seat. Its Church of Saint Nicholas was built in 1495 under Stephen the Great, whose church foundations are scattered across the region. The composer George Enescu was born in a village nearby, and the area is closely associated with his name.
A Dorohoi map poster renders this quiet geography clearly. The Jijia winds across the valley floor, the historic core stays modest, and the streets follow the land in a soft, irregular pattern. It is a thoughtful gift for people with roots in northern Moldavia, including the many families whose relatives left the region over the last century.
The Jijia River and its floodplain run through the area. The soft winding line sets the direction for roads and neighbourhoods.
The old core is small and tightly drawn. The Church of Saint Nicholas is one of the landmarks that anchor the older streets.
Streets on the outskirts bend and fork with the slopes of the Moldavian Plateau, giving the edges of the map a loose, organic outline.

Ko e ha Dorohoi
Dorohoi holds deep family history for many people, both in Romania and in emigrant communities around the world. A map of its streets is a respectful way to honour that connection, simple enough to sit alongside old photographs and letters.
