Edgewood sits in Harford County, where the land breaks up into necks and inlets along the upper Chesapeake Bay. From above, the community lies between two tidal rivers, the Bush and the Gunpowder. Their branching creeks cut deep into the shoreline and give the map an uneven, feathered outline. Residential streets gather inland in loops and cul-de-sacs, with patches of woodland between the neighbourhoods.
Main routes run through town on a northeast diagonal. Interstate 95 and US Route 40 follow the corridor between Baltimore and Philadelphia, and the rail line runs beside them.
