Ferndown lies in east Dorset, just north of the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation. It grew largely during the twentieth century out of a landscape of heath and scattered farms, and its map shows the result: winding residential roads, cul-de-sacs and crescents, with pockets of woodland and heath still holding their ground between neighbourhoods.
The River Stour runs to the south with its floodplain meadows, and areas of heathland around the town are protected for their wildlife. Ferndown is also known for its golf, with courses occupying large stretches of former heath. Main roads lead toward Wimborne Minster to the west and Ringwood to the northeast.
A Ferndown map poster shows a suburban pattern that is gentle rather than regular: curving streets, loops and dead ends, framed by open spaces of heath, fairway and river meadow. It is a map where the unbuilt land matters as much as the houses, giving the composition a relaxed, green balance.
Crescents, closes and winding avenues make up most of the town, drawing a looser and more organic pattern than a traditional street grid.
Protected heathland and golf courses leave large open areas within and around the town, quiet spaces that shape the layout of the poster.
The meandering river and its floodplain to the south form a soft edge, a slow line of water running beneath the town.

Ferndown suits long-time residents, people who moved to be near the Dorset coast, and anyone with fond memories of walks across its heaths. The map's soft, green-leaning composition feels at home in a hallway or a sunny sitting room.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a road name or an anniversary, and edit the coordinates line. The HD files cost $9 and cover six print sizes; the styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
