Ko e mape
Fussa lies in western Tokyo, on the terraces above the Tama River. Its map is dominated by an unusual feature: Yokota Air Base, which occupies a large share of the city's area and appears as a vast open space crossed by a long runway. The residential streets of Fussa press up against its perimeter, giving the plan a sharp contrast between density and emptiness.
To the west, the Tama River forms a natural edge, with riverside parks and green strips following its course. Between the base and the river, the city is filled with small blocks and narrow lanes typical of suburban Tokyo, crossed by rail lines connecting it to central Tokyo and the Tama region.
Fussa is also known for sake brewing, with long-established breweries drawing on local groundwater. A Fussa map poster renders this unusual composition with clarity: the runway and airfield, the fine-grained residential areas and the river along the western edge, a portrait of a city shaped by both nature and a very particular neighbour.
The long runway and open grounds of Yokota Air Base take up a large part of the city, forming a striking empty rectangle on the map.
The Tama River runs along the western side of the city, bordered by green riverside spaces that give the plan a soft natural boundary.
Between the base and the river, small blocks and narrow lanes fill every available space, typical of Tokyo's suburban neighbourhoods.

Ko e ha Fussa
Fussa is home to long-time residents and to people who have lived there while stationed at Yokota, and both often keep a strong attachment to it. A map poster keeps the city's unusual shape close, wherever life moves next.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the years you lived there, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Choose a $9 digital download or a printed matte poster.
