Ko e mape
Sayama lies in south-western Saitama Prefecture, within commuting distance of central Tokyo but near the hills where the Kantō Plain starts to rise. On a map the city is a mix of dense residential streets around its stations, wide industrial plots and open farmland. The Iruma River crosses it from west to east, with parks and embankments along both banks.
The area is known for Sayama tea, one of Japan's best-known green teas, and tea fields still appear as neat rows on the gentler slopes. Part of Iruma Air Base lies within the city, and its runway is a long, straight line on the map. Together the fields, factories and base give Sayama a looser, more open pattern than the suburbs closer to Tokyo.
Every summer the city holds a large Tanabata festival, and the streets near the station fill with decorations. A Sayama map poster shows a city where the river, tea fields and suburban blocks meet. The layout is calm and spacious, very different from the tight grids of central Tokyo, and it shows how much green space remains at the edge of the capital region.
The river crosses the city from west to east with wide embankments and riverside parks. It forms the main natural line on the map and a green corridor through Sayama.
Rows of tea bushes cover parts of the city and its outskirts. On the map they make open, gently patterned areas between residential and industrial districts.
Part of the air base lies within Sayama. Its long runway is a straight, clean shape that stands out against the irregular suburban streets and fields around it.

Ko e ha Sayama
Sayama is home to many families who commute to Tokyo but still live among tea fields and river walks. A map of the city captures that balance, and it makes a fitting gift for anyone who grew up here or spent years in western Saitama.
