Ko e mape
Galaţi occupies a terrace above the Danube's left bank, close to where the Siret and Prut rivers join the main stream. The Danube here is broad enough for seagoing ships, and the city's waterfront stretches for kilometres, with the promenade known as the Faleza running along the edge. From above, the river draws a strong line along the south and east of the city, with flat marshland across the water.
Behind the waterfront, the city climbs in tiers of streets and large post-war housing estates, laid out along wide boulevards. To the north-east, Lake Brateș spreads as a broad, shallow sheet of water, while to the west the steelworks, once among the largest in Europe, covers an area that rivals the residential city itself.
Galaţi is one of Romania's key Danube ports and home to shipyards that still build and repair vessels. A Galaţi map poster shows a city defined by its edges, water on two sides and industry on a third, and it reads well across the styles, from the stark contrast of Noir to the softer tones of Paper.
The river curves around the south and east of the city, a wide band of water with the Faleza promenade and port facilities lining the high bank.
A large, shallow lake lies north-east of the centre, its broad shape adding a second body of water that balances the river on the poster.
West of the city, the huge steel complex forms a dense block of plants and rail tracks, an industrial counterweight to the residential grid.

Ko e ha Galaţi
Galaţi is a city of sailors, shipbuilders and steelworkers, and its map carries that working character: water on two sides, industry on another, homes in between. People who grew up here, or on ships that called here, often want that shape framed.
