Ko e mape
Gangnam, meaning south of the river, is the part of Seoul that grew on the southern bank of the Han from the 1970s onward. Its map looks nothing like the older districts to the north. Broad arterial roads divide the land into very large blocks, and within each block smaller streets and apartment complexes form their own pattern. Teheran-ro runs east–west as a straight corridor of office towers.
The district was planned partly to relieve crowding north of the river, and within a generation its farmland gave way to apartments, offices and schools. In the east, the COEX convention and shopping complex faces Bongeunsa, a Buddhist temple with origins in the eighth century. Gangnam Station, at the western end of Teheran-ro, is one of the busiest subway stations in Seoul.
A Gangnam map poster presents a clear hierarchy of lines: thick arterials, the thinner streets within each superblock, and the river with its bridges along the northern edge. Hills to the south, such as Daemosan, interrupt the pattern with green shapes. The overall effect is graphic and orderly, a portrait of a city built at speed.
Named after Seoul's sister city Tehran, this long straight avenue runs east from Gangnam Station. Lined with office towers, it forms the district's commercial spine.
Large blocks bounded by wide roads contain their own networks of lanes and apartment complexes. They give the map a layered, cellular texture unlike older parts of Seoul.
A historic temple compound and a vast modern convention center face each other on the eastern side of the district, an unusual pairing of shapes.

Ko e ha Gangnam
Gangnam is where many people in Seoul work, study or raised their families, and its map reflects a very modern kind of city life. Framed, it reads as a clean architectural diagram rather than a tourist souvenir.
Personalize the title, add a subtitle with a date, and edit the coordinates line. Five styles are available, and Blueprint suits this planned grid especially well. Get it as $9 HD files or a printed poster.
