Madura Strait shoreline
The coast runs along the eastern side of the map. Piers and reclaimed land push out into the strait, which gives the edge a jagged, working outline.

Ko e mape
Gresik lies on the north coast of East Java, just northwest of Surabaya, facing the narrow waters that separate Java from Madura. From above, the shoreline is lined with long jetties, industrial plots and port basins. The older town sits just inland, where a finer network of lanes and small blocks tells a different, older story.
For centuries Gresik was a trading harbour on the Java Sea. It is closely linked to the early spread of Islam on Java. The tombs of Maulana Malik Ibrahim and Sunan Giri, both counted among the Wali Songo, draw pilgrims to the town. Today it is better known as an industrial centre, home to large cement and fertiliser producers.
A Gresik map poster shows both sides of the town at once. Large rectangular industrial parcels press against the water, and the close-knit residential streets behind them form a much finer texture. The contrast between these two scales is what makes the print interesting.
The coast runs along the eastern side of the map. Piers and reclaimed land push out into the strait, which gives the edge a jagged, working outline.
Inland from the harbour, narrow streets and small blocks form a dense pattern. It is the oldest part of the town's footprint.
Large, plain parcels of plant and port land break up the street grid. They appear on the poster as broad open shapes with strong edges.

Ko e ha Gresik
Gresik means different things to different people: a pilgrimage town, a hometown, a place of work in one of Java's industrial belts. A map of its coast and lanes is a restrained way to keep that connection on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised. You can add a family name, a date or a short phrase. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room it will hang in.
