Gujō Map Poster & Print

Gujō lies in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture, in central Japan. Its historic heart, Gujō Hachiman, sits where the Yoshida River flows into the Nagara, with steep forested slopes rising on both sides. From above, the old town is a narrow band of streets following the rivers, with a reconstructed castle keep on the hill above.

The town is known for its water. Small canals and channels run beside many streets, and springs feed public washing places still used by residents. On the map, the rivers and bridges give the town a clear structure, while the surrounding mountains leave only a thin strip of land for building.

Gujō is famous for the Gujō Odori, a summer dance festival held over more than thirty nights, and for producing plastic food samples. A Gujō map poster shows a castle town shaped by its rivers and slopes, with the city squeezed neatly into the valleys.

The castle stands on a forested hill above the town, with slopes pressing close around the narrow valley floor.

Gujō is a place people remember for summer dances, clear rivers and quiet streets. A map of the town is a calm way to keep that memory, or to honour family roots in Gifu.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the date of a festival visit. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
