Ko e mape
Heyuan lies in the hills of northeastern Guangdong, where the Xinfeng River flows into the Dong River, also called the East River. The city is built around this confluence, and its districts spread along the banks. From above, the rivers form a wide Y shape through the middle, with bridges linking the neighbourhoods on each side.
Upstream is the large Xinfengjiang Reservoir, also known as Wanlü Lake, and the Dong River is an important water source for the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong. Heyuan is also known for its dinosaur eggs; the Heyuan Dinosaur Museum holds a very large collection found in the area.
A Heyuan map poster is shaped by water and hills. The rivers give the city a strong central structure, and the green slopes around it mark clear limits to the street pattern. It is a calm, well-balanced map for people from Heyuan or anyone who knows this part of Guangdong.
The Xinfeng and Dong rivers meet in the city, forming a clear Y shape. It is the strongest feature on the map and divides the districts.
Several bridges cross the rivers at intervals. They look like fine lines tying together the parts of the city on different banks.
Green hills surround the urban area and limit its spread. The streets end where the slopes begin, giving the map clear edges.
