Imizu Map Poster & Print

Imizu lies on the shore of Toyama Bay, on the Sea of Japan coast, in the middle of Toyama Prefecture. On a map the coastline forms a smooth curve along the north, and the port area of Shinminato cuts into it with docks and channels. Inland, the city spreads across flat ground divided by rivers into residential districts and rice fields.

Shinminato is the historic port town. The Uchikawa, a narrow canal lined with fishermen's houses and crossed by many small bridges, runs through it. The tall Shinminato Ohashi bridge spans the harbour entrance, and the sail training ship Kaiwo Maru is moored nearby. On clear days the Tateyama mountains appear across the bay.

An Imizu map poster shows a waterside city. The bay, the harbour, the Uchikawa canal and the rivers crossing the plain all combine with the dense streets of the old port town to make a map full of fine detail and strong lines.

Uchikawa canal

A narrow canal winds through the old port district of Shinminato, crossed by many small bridges. It adds a delicate, detailed line to the map.

02

Shinminato harbour

The port's docks and channels cut into the coastline, and a large bridge spans the harbour entrance in a single straight stroke.

03

Toyama Bay coast

The smooth curve of the coast runs across the top of the city and gives the composition a clear, open edge.

Taha mape kua fai kakano

For people from Toyama, or anyone who has walked along the Uchikawa canal, Imizu's water-laced plan is memorable. The bay and harbour give the print a strong, balanced composition.

Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the harbour and canals especially well.
