Itapuranga is a municipality in central Goiás, in the cerrado region of Brazil's interior. As in many towns of the Centre-West, the urban area follows a fairly regular grid. Straight streets meet at right angles, and blocks of similar size spread out from the centre.
Beyond the grid, the map changes character. Open agricultural land surrounds the town, and roads run out through it toward neighbouring municipalities. Small watercourses cross the farmland and show up as thin, winding lines, a clear contrast with the straight streets of town.
