Jagalūr is a town in the Davanagere district of central Karnataka, on the dry uplands of the Deccan plateau. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets where regional roads meet, surrounded by a wide expanse of fields broken up by field boundaries, scattered rocky ground and water tanks.
As in much of this region, farming depends on the rains and on tanks that store water for the dry months, and these reservoirs often appear on the map as distinct shapes near settlements. The older centre is densely built with narrow lanes, while newer housing spreads outward along the main roads leading to neighbouring towns.
A Jagalūr map poster brings out the contrast between the dense town and the open land around it. The radiating roads give the composition structure, and the surrounding countryside leaves calm negative space. For anyone from Jagalūr now living in Bengaluru or elsewhere, it is a considered way to keep the shape of home close by.
Regional roads converge at the town, giving the map a clear radiating structure with the densest streets at their meeting point.
The older part of town is a tight network of narrow lanes and closely packed buildings, visibly denser than the newer areas along the main roads.
Beyond the town, open agricultural land stretches across the Deccan plateau, crossed by tracks and field edges that thin into near-empty space at the poster's margins.

Small towns rarely get printed maps, which is exactly why a poster of Jagalūr stands out. It suits a family home, a first flat in the city, or a gift for parents who have spent their lives on these streets.
Personalise the title and subtitle in English or add a meaningful date, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download all six print sizes for $9, or order a matte print delivered to your door.
