Lapua River
The river runs through town in gentle curves, and many streets and farms follow its course, giving the map its main organic line.

Kauhava Map Poster & Print
Kauhava is a town in South Ostrobothnia, in western Finland, on the wide, flat plains typical of the region. The Lapua River runs through it, and from above the town is a long cluster of streets along the river, with open fields in long parallel strips around it.
The town has long been known for its puukko knives, and it was for decades the home of the Finnish Air Force Academy before the academy moved to Tikkakoski in 2014. The former air base remains a large, distinctive feature on the map, with its runway drawn as a precise straight line.
A Kauhava map poster combines strong geometric forms. The river winds through the centre, rectangular fields stretch outward, and farmhouses line the roads in the Ostrobothnian manner. The result is spacious and orderly, with the built-up town as a darker core in a pale landscape.

Strip fields
Long, narrow fields stretch out from roads and waterways, creating a striped pattern characteristic of the Ostrobothnian plains.
Former air base
The old Air Force Academy airfield lies close to town, its runway appearing as a long straight line against the fields.

Kauhava speaks to people from Ostrobothnia, to those who served or trained at the old air base, and to anyone who likes clean, geometric landscapes. The field pattern makes a quiet, graphic print.
