Kenmore sits at the northern end of Lake Washington in King County, northeast of Seattle. The lake shore forms its southern edge, and the Sammamish River enters the lake here after flowing from Lake Sammamish through the valley to the east. From above, the water shapes the whole composition.
The city is largely residential, with neighbourhood streets curving over wooded hills and a main highway running along the north shore of the lake. Kenmore is known as the home base of Kenmore Air, whose floatplanes take off from the lake, and the regional Burke-Gilman Trail runs through the city toward Seattle.
