Ko e mape
Klaten lies on the fertile plain of Central Java, roughly midway between Yogyakarta and Surakarta. From above, the town forms a compact centre of streets along the main road and railway connecting those two cities, surrounded by a dense patchwork of rice fields, irrigation channels and villages. The slopes of Mount Merapi rise to the north, and the land falls gently toward the south.
Klaten Regency is home to a large part of the Prambanan area, including temples that belong to one of the most important groups of Hindu and Buddhist monuments in Indonesia. The area around the town is also known for agriculture, fed by the volcanic soil and water flowing down from Merapi. Traditional crafts, including pottery and batik, continue in villages across the regency.
A Klaten map poster shows the town as a knot of streets in a finely divided landscape. The main road and rail line pass straight through, while village roads and field boundaries form a delicate background. In black and white, the pattern reads almost like woven cloth around the dense centre.
The main road and railway between Yogyakarta and Surakarta pass through town, drawing long parallel lines that anchor the composition from one side to the other.
Around the centre, small fields, irrigation channels and village lanes create a fine, even texture that fills the edges of the poster with quiet detail.
The built-up core concentrates around the main crossroads and market area, forming a denser cluster of streets that stands out clearly against the countryside.
