Láng Thượng is a neighbourhood in western Hanoi, in the Đống Đa area. It was once a village on the edge of the city, and the name Láng is still attached to its road, its temple and its history. From above, it is one of the densest urban fabrics in Hanoi: a maze of narrow lanes and alleys, known as ngõ, branching from larger streets into packed blocks of tube houses.
Láng road runs along the edge of the neighbourhood beside the Tô Lịch river, a long straight line that frames the map. The Láng pagoda, one of Hanoi's older Buddhist temples, stands within the neighbourhood with its courtyards and gates, a quiet, open space within the dense housing. A Láng Thượng map poster shows these contrasts clearly.
The area was once known for growing vegetables and herbs, especially Láng basil, a name still familiar to Hanoians. Today, the fields have given way to housing, and the lanes have become a finely divided street pattern. In black and white, the map is intricate and almost textile-like, very different from the wide boulevards of central Hanoi.

Láng road and the Tô Lịch river run side by side along the edge of the neighbourhood, forming a long straight boundary on the map.
Narrow lanes and alleys branch repeatedly from the main streets, dividing the blocks into a fine, intricate pattern typical of Hanoi's former villages.

For Hanoians who grew up in the lanes of Láng, and for those who have lived here as students or young families, a map of the neighbourhood captures the alleys and landmarks of everyday life with real precision.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, including in Vietnamese. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir and Classic black & white bring out the density of the lanes.
