Laxmangarh is in Sikar district in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. The town was founded in the early nineteenth century and laid out on a planned pattern, with streets meeting at regular angles and market squares at key crossings. From above, that order is clear, with a fort on the hill beside the town overlooking the grid.
Shekhawati is known for its painted havelis, the merchant houses whose walls and courtyards are covered in frescoes, and Laxmangarh has many of them. They were built by trading families who made their fortunes elsewhere and invested at home. The town sits in semi-arid country, with sandy plains stretching away beyond its edges.
A Laxmangarh map poster shows a rare thing: a small town whose plan is still clearly legible. The regular streets, the open squares and the hill to one side give the print a strong structure. For families with roots in Shekhawati, it is a direct link to an ancestral place.

The fort stands on high ground beside the town. On the map the hill breaks the flat pattern and anchors the composition.
Beyond the built-up area, open semi-arid land surrounds the town, leaving wide empty space around the dense core of havelis and markets.
