Lower Earley lies on the southeastern edge of Reading, within the borough of Wokingham in Berkshire. It was built mainly in the 1970s and 1980s and is often described as one of the largest private housing developments in Europe at the time. From above, its origins are obvious: loops of distributor roads with curving closes, crescents and cul-de-sacs branching off them.
