Ko e mape
Mahobā is a town in the Bundelkhand region of southern Uttar Pradesh. It was an important centre of the Chandela dynasty, the same rulers associated with the temples of Khajuraho, and it is also the home of the warrior brothers Alha and Udal, whose story is still sung in the Alha ballads of northern India.
The Chandelas built large reservoirs here by damming valleys between the hills, and these lakes still define the town. On a map, Madan Sagar and the other sagars appear as big irregular shapes of water next to the streets, with rocky hills and scattered temple sites around them. The town fills the ground between the water and the high ground.
A Mahobā map poster reads almost like a water-management plan from a thousand years ago. In black and white, the lakes are the largest shapes in the frame and the dense lanes of the town sit beside them. The town is also known for its betel leaf, grown for paan. It suits anyone with roots in Bundelkhand.
Large lakes created by the Chandela rulers, including Madan Sagar, are the dominant shapes on the map, with the town built along their shores.
Rocky hills rise among the lakes and streets, breaking up the street pattern and leaving irregular open spaces across the frame.
The streets lie at the heart of the Alha-Udal story, a ballad tradition that gives this compact map a strong cultural association.

For families from Bundelkhand, Mahobā is tied to lakes, ballads and a long regional history. A map of the town shows that past in its layout and makes a quiet, meaningful piece for a wall.
