Mattigiri lies on the southern Deccan plateau in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu, close to Hosur and not far from the Karnataka border. The land is high and fairly level, and from above the place reads as part of a wider urban area that has been growing steadily outward.
The map shows a mix of patterns. Older lanes follow irregular lines, while newer residential layouts arrive in neat rectangular blocks, sometimes set at angles to each other where separate developments meet.
