Miura occupies the southern end of the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa, south of Yokosuka and within reach of Tokyo. On a map it is almost surrounded by sea, with Sagami Bay to the west and the channel leading into Tokyo Bay to the east. The coastline is a sequence of small coves, rocky headlands and harbours, with farmland rising on the gentle plateau inland.
At the southern tip lies Misaki, a fishing port famous for tuna, and just offshore is Jogashima, a small island linked to the mainland by a bridge. The narrow strait between them shelters the harbour, and the pairing of port and island makes one of the most distinctive details on the map.
Inland, Miura is known for its vegetables, especially the long white daikon radish that carries the town's name. A Miura map poster shows the full sweep of coast, the harbour at Misaki and the small island off its edge, with the farmland of the plateau filling the space between.
The fishing harbour at the peninsula's southern tip is sheltered by a narrow strait, its quays and inlet forming a compact focal point on the map.
A small island sits just off Misaki, connected by a bridge, adding a separate landmass and a clean crossing line to the composition.
Sagami Bay and the approach to Tokyo Bay wrap the city on both sides, so the shoreline defines nearly the whole outline of the map.

Ko e ha Miura
Miura appeals to anyone who has spent weekends on the Kanagawa coast or grown up by the harbours of the peninsula. The shape, with sea on three sides and an island at its tip, makes a strong, graphic print.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the date of a favourite trip, and set the coordinates line. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand as a $9 download or a printed poster.
