Morār Map Poster & Print

Morār forms the eastern part of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, on the other side of the city from the old centre and its fort. It developed around a military cantonment, and its map still shows that origin. Broad, straight roads and open grounds contrast with the more closely built bazaar areas around them.

The Morar River runs through the district, and on the western horizon, the rocky plateau of Gwalior Fort rises above the city. Morar has long had its own identity within Gwalior, with its own market and neighbourhoods, while still being fully connected to the larger city.

A Morār map poster shows how these parts fit together. The orderly cantonment grid sits beside denser lanes, a winding river runs through, and the city spreads west toward the fort. It is a varied map with a strong sense of place within Gwalior.

Cantonment layout

Wide roads, large plots and open parade grounds form a spacious, regular pattern. It is clearly different from the tight streets of the older areas.

02

Morar River

The small river winds through the district. It adds a soft curving line that breaks up the straight roads and built-up blocks.

03

Toward the fort

To the west, Gwalior extends toward the fort plateau. Its high, rocky shape is one of the most recognisable features in central India.
