Othukkungal lies in the Malappuram district of northern Kerala, in the midland belt between the coast and the Western Ghats. Like much of this part of the state, it does not have a sharp edge between town and countryside. From above, houses are scattered along roads and lanes that wind over low hills and down into narrow valleys.
