Ko e mape
Powai sits in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, and its map is organised around Powai Lake. The water forms a large irregular shape at the centre, with roads tracing its edges and neighbourhoods pressing close on every side. To the north the forested hills of Sanjay Gandhi National Park rise beyond the city, and Vihar Lake lies just beyond, giving the upper part of the frame a greener, emptier character.
Beside the lake stands the campus of IIT Bombay, one of India's best-known engineering institutions, its hostels, departments and quads forming a distinct pattern of internal roads and open grounds. Nearby, the Hiranandani Gardens township adds a very different texture: a planned grid of wide avenues lined with tall residential and office towers, instantly recognisable from above.
A Powai map poster brings together the lake, the campus and the township in one composition, a rare combination of water, academia and modern high-rise living within a single Mumbai neighbourhood. For graduates, residents and people who worked in its offices, it is a map that holds many memories. In black and white, the lake becomes a calm centre surrounded by intricate city fabric.
The artificial lake at the heart of the neighbourhood dominates the map, its irregular shoreline framed by roads, campus grounds and residential blocks.
The university campus beside the lake forms its own small town of looping roads, hostels and playing fields, clearly set apart from the streets around it.
A planned township of broad avenues and tall towers, its orderly layout contrasting sharply with the more organic street pattern elsewhere in Mumbai.

Ko e ha Powai
Powai means a lot to IIT alumni, to families who made a home in its towers and to people who started careers in its offices. A map of the lake and campus is a fitting keepsake for any of them.
