Ko e mape
Pryluky lies in Chernihiv Oblast in northern Ukraine, on the Udai River, which winds through the town in wide bends before continuing south. On a map the river and its floodplain define the shape of the place. The town sits mainly on the higher bank, with meadows, wetland and small channels spreading across the low ground beside the water.
Pryluky has a long history as a regional centre. In the Cossack Hetmanate it was the seat of the Pryluky regiment, one of the administrative and military divisions of the time. The centre still follows an older layout, with streets converging on the main square, while later districts extend outward in more regular blocks and industrial areas.
A Pryluky map poster brings together the curves of the Udai and the structure of the town. In black and white the river's loops and the textured floodplain contrast with the firmer lines of the street grid. It is a map with a clear sense of place, shaped by water and centuries of settlement on the same bank.
The river winds through Pryluky in broad loops, its curving course and floodplain forming the strongest natural feature on the map.
Streets in the older part of town converge on the central square, reflecting the layout of a long-established regional and Cossack regimental centre.
Low land along the river is filled with meadows, wetland and small channels, giving the map a soft, open texture beside the denser town.

For people from Pryluky and for those carrying the memory of a Ukrainian hometown far from it, a map of the town is a quiet way to keep the river and the streets close.
