Saint-Ouen sits directly north of Paris. The Boulevard Périphérique, the ring road around the city, marks its southern edge, and a bend of the Seine forms its western side. From above, the town is a dense block of streets squeezed between these two borders. Old industrial parcels, railway land and newer residential areas fit together here, so the pattern changes from one district to the next.
The south of the town, near the ring road, is home to the Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, one of the largest antique and flea markets in the world. On the map its covered alleys and small market blocks make a fine, tangled texture. Toward the river, former docks and industrial land have been rebuilt into new neighbourhoods and a large park, which leave wider, more open shapes along the Seine.
In recent years the town has changed quickly. Part of the athletes' village for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was built here, and the extended Métro line 14 now reaches Saint-Ouen. A Saint-Ouen map poster shows the town between the city and the river, with its market lanes, the rebuilt riverside and the dense streets in between.
The Marché aux Puces spreads out near the Périphérique as narrow alleys and small covered markets. On the poster it forms one of the densest and most detailed areas.
The river curves along the western edge of the town. Former docks there have become new residential blocks and green space, which open up the map beside the water.
The ring road marks the boundary with Paris in a firm line along the south. You can see the pattern of the streets change on either side of it.
