Ko e mape
Sarahs lies in southern Turkmenistan on the Tejen River, known upstream as the Hari River. Here the river forms the border with Iran, and the Iranian town of Sarakhs lies directly opposite. The map shows a compact settlement on the eastern Karakum plain, surrounded by irrigated fields that stand out sharply against the dry land beyond.
This was a stop on the old caravan routes between Merv and Mashhad, and the region has long been a crossing point between Central Asia and Iran. Near the town stands the mausoleum of Abul Fazl, a medieval Sufi scholar known locally as Sarahs Baba. A modern railway also crosses the border here, linking the Turkmen and Iranian rail networks.
A Sarahs map poster draws a line between two countries and two towns with the same name. The river runs along one edge, the railway and roads converge on the border crossing, and the irrigated land fades into desert at the margins. It is a spare, meaningful composition that reflects the town's long role as a gateway.

The domed tomb of the medieval Sufi scholar known as Sarahs Baba stands near the town and remains an important place of pilgrimage.
A rail line opened in the 1990s crosses the border here, connecting Turkmenistan's network with Iran's and giving the map a strong line of track.
