Sook Kalan sits on the level country of central-northern Punjab, a region of intensive farming watered by canals and rivers flowing south from the mountains. The word Kalan, which often appears in Punjabi place names, usually marks the larger of two settlements with the same name. From above, the town reads as a solid cluster of buildings with the open grain of farmland pressing in on every side.
The street pattern reflects how the town grew over a long time. The centre has short, bending lanes that meet at odd angles, and newer growth spreads out along the main roads. Beyond the last houses, the map turns into a grid of fields broken by paths, water channels and the outlines of other villages, each a small dark shape against the lighter countryside.
A Sook Kalan map poster is a portrait of a place at human scale. There are no grand boulevards or waterfronts to lean on, so the design depends on the network itself: the density of the core, the thin roads leading out, and the balance between built land and cultivated land. In monochrome it looks calm, orderly and personal.
The oldest part of town is a tangle of narrow streets that grew without a master plan. It gives the centre of the poster a fine, detailed texture.
Newer houses and shops stretch outward along the main approach roads. From above, this makes arms of development reaching into the surrounding fields.
Nearby hamlets appear as small clusters spread across the plain. Together they show how closely the rural communities of this area are linked.

Many families from this part of Punjab now live abroad, and a map of the home town is a simple way to keep a sense of place on the wall. It shows not a postcard view but the real streets people walked.
You can change the title, add a subtitle with a name or year, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room where it will hang.
