Tacoronte sits on the northern side of Tenerife, spread across slopes that run from the island's central ridge down to the Atlantic. On a map the town is shaped by the terrain: roads climb in bends and switchbacks, small settlements cluster along ridges, and cultivated plots fill the spaces between them all the way to the coast.
The area is best known for its wine. Tacoronte gives its name to the Tacoronte-Acentejo designation of origin, one of the first established in the Canary Islands, and vineyards cover much of the surrounding land.
