Ko e mape
Toyohama lies on the eastern coast of the Chita Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture, in the town of Minamichita, close to the peninsula's southern tip. From above, it is a narrow coastal settlement squeezed between the water and wooded hills, with a dense cluster of streets surrounding a working fishing harbour protected by long breakwaters.
The town is well known for its sea bream festival, the Tai Matsuri, during which giant fish-shaped floats made of cloth and bamboo are carried through the streets and into the sea. Fishing continues to shape daily life here, and the harbour, market and quays sit at the centre of the town.
A Toyohama map poster captures the tight relationship between land and sea. The harbour's angular piers and breakwaters create strong geometric shapes against the open water, while narrow lanes pack the flat ground behind the shore. Inland, the streets quickly give way to slopes and valleys, leaving a clear edge.
Breakwaters and piers form a sheltered basin at the centre of the town, the most distinctive geometric feature on the map and the heart of local life.
The town occupies a thin band of flat land between the bay and the hills, so its streets run parallel to the shore in tight rows.
Behind the town, hills rise quickly, and roads curve up through the valleys, leaving the upper part of the map light and open.

Ko e ha Toyohama
Toyohama is a place where the sea is part of every day, and its map shows that clearly. It suits people with family ties to the peninsula, anglers and those who remember the festival floats making their way into the water.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a festival year, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint pairs well with the precise harbour shapes.
