Trittāla Map Poster & Print

Trittāla, often written Thrithala, lies in the Palakkad district of Kerala, on the banks of the Bharathapuzha, the long river known locally as the Nila. From above the river is the dominant shape: a wide, braided channel with sandbanks, curving past the town and dividing the landscape into two banks.

As is typical in Kerala, the settlement does not end abruptly. Houses and lanes spread through coconut groves and paddy fields, and the road network forms a loose web instead of a compact grid. The main roads follow the river and link Trittāla with nearby towns along the Nila valley.

A Trittāla map poster places the river at the centre of the composition, with the town's lanes gathered on its bank and the green countryside suggested by open space. It is a quiet, flowing design, well suited to anyone who knows the Nila and its towns.

For Malayalis at home or abroad, a map of Trittāla and the Nila is a strong reminder of place. The river gives the print movement and a clear focus.
