Zealand is the largest island in Denmark and the most densely settled. On a map its outline is irregular: long fjords reach inland from the north, the Great Belt runs along the west side, and the Øresund separates it from Sweden in the east. Copenhagen covers the eastern shore, and its streets and railway lines fan out west and north into commuter towns and farmland.
Roskilde Fjord and the Isefjord cut so far into the north coast that they almost split the island in two. Roskilde itself sits at the head of its fjord, home to a cathedral where Danish monarchs have been buried for centuries. At the northeastern tip, Helsingør and Kronborg Castle, the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet, face the Swedish coast across the narrowest point of the Øresund.
A Zealand map poster shows the whole island as a network: motorways that meet in Copenhagen, the long bridge across the Great Belt to Funen in the west, and the Øresund crossing towards Malmö in the east. Further south, the chalk wall of Stevns Klint marks the coast where scientists found evidence of the impact that ended the age of the dinosaurs.

The capital's dense streets, harbour channels and radiating rail lines fill the eastern coast. In print, it looks like a darker, more detailed patch against the open countryside.
A line of chalk cliffs on the southeast coast, listed by UNESCO, where layers of rock record the asteroid impact that ended the Cretaceous period.

Ko e ha Zealand
Zealand is home to about half of Denmark's population, and many of them know the island through daily commutes, summer houses on the north coast and trips between the two. A map of the whole island puts the city and the countryside on one sheet.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a home town, a summer house or a wedding date. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to match the interior.
